  My wife and I have been seeing going to Peninsula Family Smile for two years, and the health of our teeth and especially our gums has improved. Dr. Ho helped me to solve one mystery that has stumped my other dentists of the past: on both sides of my upper jaw, on my molars, are deep lines where the enamel is no longer present and where the gums have receded. Other dentists have said that it was because I used a "sawing" motion while brushing when I had braces. Dr. Ho said it was from my grinding teeth at night. No doubt -- I have known that I grind my teeth at night -- my wife tells me that every morning -- so I wear a plastic night guard, which is the old type that fits around all my upper teeth. The problem is that when I wear this mouth guard, my natural reaction is to bite down on it, and from the looks of it, with all the deep ruts, I still grind my teeth at night. To solve my problem, I had to stop clenching my jaws and not just to cover my teeth with a piece of plastic. Dr. Ho gave me a new type of night guard called NTI that fits on just my two front upper teeth, and that has significantly reduced my grinding (according to my wife) by reducing the jaw muscle tension. My wife also got one, and in the past, I would hear her grind away for 20-30 seconds after a stressful day at work; now 1-2 seconds if at all. Our gums have also improved -- Dr. Ho said that by not clenching, we would reduce the inflammation of our gums caused by grinding our teeth at night. Lo and behold, after the NTI night guard, our gums are less red and don't bleed when we floss. So our investment into the NTI night guard has been well worth it -- we've found a way to keep from losing our teeth enamel because of grinding at night, and our gums are no longer inflamed and bleeding when we floss.
  
  Besides this, we have been impressed by the level of service and attention. I've been happy with my fillings done with the tooth colored (not the metallic) material. Once I was running late because my car was blocked in at work by a double-parked truck. Dr. Ho stayed past the office closing hour to finish my cleaning. Also, at times he has done the cleaning personally -- at other places a dental hygienist does it. Cathy the receptionist is always friendly when making/changing appointments, and the other administrator (I forgot her name) is very good at explaining billing (we pay out of pocket).
  
  I highly recommend Peninsula Smile to those who are looking for a dentist who will take time to figure out how to improve the health of your teeth and gums.
